History

The crossover Trailblazer (unrelated to the earlier body-on-frame mid-size of the same name) was developed by GM Korea and revealed at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show. Production began at the Bupyeong plant in January 2020, and US sales started for the 2021 model year. It uses GM's VSS-F platform and is positioned between the Trax and the larger Equinox.

Within six years of production start, GM Korea had built more than two million units of this model combined with the Trax at the Bupyeong facility — a milestone the company highlighted as evidence of GM Korea's role as a global compact-crossover development and manufacturing hub.
