History

Officially unveiled in January 2020 and launched in the US in November 2020 as a 2021 model, the GV80 was Genesis's first-ever SUV and an important moment for the brand. The GV80 offered turbocharged 2.5-liter and 3.5-liter V6 engines, rear- or all-wheel drive, available three-row seating, and a cabin that automotive journalists consistently ranked among the most refined in the segment — earning comparisons to vehicles costing considerably more from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi.

The GV80 was warmly received by the press and customers alike, logging 20,325 US sales in its first full year. A refreshed GV80 with updated styling, a new 27-inch OLED display, and a GV80 Coupe variant (with a sloping roofline) arrived for 2024. The GV80 has surpassed 100,000 cumulative US sales as of 2025, cementing its role as a cornerstone of the Genesis lineup.
