1994–1998 Ford Mustang, fourth generation SN95 — red coupe, side profile

SN95 Mustang (fourth generation)

1994–2004

The first ground-up redesign in fifteen years. Code-named SN95 (an updated "Fox-4" version of the Fox platform), the 1994 car dropped the old hatchback and notchback for a single rounded body offered as a coupe or convertible, brought back retro cues (running-horse grille, tri-bar taillights, dual-cockpit dash), and added standard dual airbags. The 5.0 pushrod V8 carried over for 1994–1995 before the 4.6-liter modular SOHC V8 replaced it for 1996. A sharp-cornered "New Edge" restyle arrived for 1999 on the same chassis, and the generation produced standout SVT Cobras — including the independent-rear-suspension 1999/2001 cars and the supercharged 2003–2004 "Terminator" Cobra — plus the revived 2003–2004 Mach 1.
