The 1995 model year
Overview
A near-carryover second year — and the last hurrah for the 5.0 pushrod V8. The big news lived at the top: the limited 1995 SVT Cobra R swapped in a 5.8 L Windsor V8 for racers, a one-year-only, sold-to-licensed-competitors special. A stripped, value-priced "GTS" gave buyers GT running gear without the trim. (Horsepower figures are SAE net.)

- The stripped-down "GTS" arrived: GT mechanicals, fewer features, lower price.
- The 1995 SVT Cobra R debuted with a 5.8 L Windsor V8 (250 built, no A/C or radio, sold to competition buyers).
- Otherwise a styling and equipment carryover from 1994.
Living with it
Reliability & ownership notes
- Last of the pushrod 5.0 cars — robust, simple, and the easiest fourth-gen V8 to service and modify.
- The Cobra R's 5.8 L is a specialist car; verify documentation and originality before paying a premium.
- Same SN95 checkpoints: convertible cowl-shake, top seals, and front-end rust on weathered cars.
Worth knowing
Notable
- The 1995 SVT Cobra R (250 units, 5.8 L Windsor) is the blue-chip year — a stripped homologation special.
- Closing year for the pushrod 5.0 gives 1994–95 V8 cars distinct enthusiast appeal.
