The 2000 model year
Overview
A standout year despite a quiet one for the regular cars: there was NO standard SVT Cobra for 2000 — instead SVT built the limited 2000 Cobra R, the wildest factory fourth-gen Mustang. Its 5.4 L DOHC V8 made 385 hp, backed by a Tremec T-56 six-speed (the only fourth-gen Cobra R with six gears) and sold only to qualified buyers. A Spring Feature Edition dressed up the GT. (Horsepower figures are SAE net.)
