The 1998 model year

Overview

The final year of the original SN95 shape — the "New Edge" restyle was already waiting for 1999. The GT gained a small bump to 225 hp through calibration and fuel-system tweaks; the Cobra held at 305 hp. (Horsepower figures are SAE net.)

Year over year

What changed

  • GT power rose to 225 hp via PCM recalibration and fuel-system changes.
  • Last model year of the original (1994–98) SN95 body.
  • Otherwise a carryover; the New Edge restyle arrived for 1999.

Worth knowing

Notable

  • Closing year of the rounded SN95 look — a clean styling bookend before New Edge.
  • The 225 hp GT is the strongest of the 1994–98 GTs.

Living with it

Reliability & ownership notes

  • Same modular-V8 notes: durable SOHC GT, more complex DOHC Cobra; service history matters.
  • Final pre-New-Edge body — SN95 checkpoints unchanged (convertible seals, front-end rust).

Current market value

We don't publish a market estimate for the 1998 model year yet. A valuation ships here only when it can be sourced and dated — we'd rather show nothing than a number we can't stand behind.
