History

Debuting for 1965 as the top Galaxie trim and then a standalone model, the LTD positioned a full-size Ford as a near-luxury car at a mainstream price.

The LTD name spanned full-size cars into the 1980s, plus the separate mid-size LTD II (1977–1979) and a downsized 'Fox-platform' LTD (1983–1986).
