History

Introduced for 1959, the Galaxie was Ford's full-size mainstay through the 1960s, with the upmarket 'Galaxie 500' and '500/XL' trims.

Galaxies were a NASCAR force and could be ordered with big-block V8s up to the 427 and 428. The nameplate was retired after 1974.
