History
The 1991 Explorer replaced the Bronco II and became the best-selling SUV of the 1990s, helping launch the mainstream SUV era.
It moved from body-on-frame to a unibody crossover layout for 2011, then returned to rear-wheel-drive-based architecture for 2020, adding the performance ST and a hybrid.
