History
Launched for 2001 (co-developed with Mazda), the Escape was one of the first car-based compact crossovers and an immediate hit.
The 2005 Escape Hybrid was the first hybrid SUV from a domestic automaker. Later generations moved to Ford's global C platform and added EcoBoost and plug-in-hybrid powertrains.
