Force Motors Urbania History
History
First shown publicly at the 2020 Auto Expo, the Urbania was developed over several years on an all-new modular monocoque panel-van platform — Force Motors' first genuinely new vehicle architecture in 30 years, developed at a reported investment of over ₹1,000 crore. Pandemic delays pushed its retail launch to December 2022, when it entered the market at a starting price of approximately ₹28.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Urbania is powered by a Mercedes-Benz-derived 2.6-litre diesel engine producing 114 bhp and 350 Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It is offered in three wheelbase lengths — Short (3,350 mm), Medium (3,615 mm), and Long (4,400 mm) — with seating capacities from 10 to 17 passengers. Noteworthy as India's first van to achieve compliance with crash, rollover, and pedestrian safety regulations, the Urbania marked a significant step forward in the segment's safety standards.
