Foton View History
History
The Foton View launched in 2000 as a light commercial van borrowing styling cues from the Toyota HiAce H100, targeting China's fast-growing urban delivery and passenger-transit market. An updated variant branded the Foton View Alpha (also called Foton View Irland Act) arrived in October 2003 to refresh the range.
A second-generation lineup — the Kuaiyun, Kuaijie, and Kuaike — arrived in 2007 and expanded the View into cargo-focused, economy-passenger, and high-capacity-passenger segments, assembled in Anhui, China, and at a plant in Clark, Philippines. The third generation G7 and G9 models debuted in 2014, with the G5 added as a rebadged MP-X. The G-series have remained in production continuously, gaining a six-speed automatic option from 2024.
Electric variants have expanded the View's remit: the Zhilan EV (2021) offers a 53 kWh battery and 230 km range, and the 2023 Camaster retro-styled camper van demonstrates the platform's versatility. The View remains Foton's volume seller in Southeast Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, and Cuba.
