History

Revealed to the press on 28 February 2017 and shown publicly at the Geneva Motor Show that year, the DS 7 Crossback went on sale in January 2018 as DS Automobiles' first purpose-designed SUV — the brand's most important single model and commercial turning point. Built on PSA's EMP2 platform shared with the Peugeot 3008 and Citroën C5 Aircross, it was positioned as a premium alternative to the BMW X1/X3 and Audi Q3/Q5 classes, bringing a more elaborate interior than its platform siblings.

President Emmanuel Macron selected the DS 7 Crossback as his official presidential car for his inauguration on 14 May 2017, providing the new model with extraordinary visibility. The DS 7 Crossback was offered with petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid E-Tense powertrains including a 360-hp dual-motor 4×4 E-Tense variant.

A significant facelift arrived in 2022, at which point the Crossback suffix was dropped and the car was renamed simply DS 7. The updated model adopted the same diamond-motif front-end design introduced by the DS 9, and continued to focus on electrified E-Tense plug-in hybrid variants.
