History

The first DS 4 — initially sold as the Citroën DS4 — launched in 2010 on PSA's PF2 platform, offering a distinctive raised hatchback body with a coupe-style roofline and upscale interior. It won Most Beautiful Car of the Year at the International Automobile Festival and earned five stars from Euro NCAP in 2011. Like the DS 3, it was rebranded from Citroën DS4 to DS 4 in 2015 as the brand separated. Sales were modest and production ended in 2018.

DS relaunched the DS 4 nameplate for 2021 on an all-new EMP2 platform shared with the Peugeot 308 and Opel Astra L, assembled at Opel's Rüsselsheim plant in Germany. The new car is a more upscale compact crossover-hatchback positioned to rival the BMW 1 Series and Audi A3, offered with plug-in hybrid E-Tense drivetrains from launch alongside a petrol-only entry grade.

All-new compact crossover-hatchback on PSA EMP2, built in Rüsselsheim; plug-in hybrid E-Tense from launch.
