History

The DS 9 was unveiled to the press on 27 February 2020 and was intended to make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2020, but the Swiss show was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Built on PSA's EMP2 long-wheelbase platform (shared with the Peugeot 508 L), the DS 9 measures nearly five metres in length — comparable to a BMW 5-Series — and was aimed at the premium executive segment with an emphasis on refinement and electrification.

The DS 9 was offered exclusively as a plug-in hybrid (E-Tense), with variants including the E-Tense 225 (single-motor, front-wheel-drive), E-Tense 250 (single-motor with extended electric range), and the dual-motor E-Tense 4×4 360 with all-wheel drive and 360 hp combined. The model was produced in China at a Dongfeng-PSA joint venture facility, reflecting DS's strategic importance in that market.
