History
The M-Hero brand was officially launched by Dongfeng on August 27, 2022. The 917 was unveiled as a production vehicle in January 2023, and production started on April 5, 2023; the vehicle reached Chinese showrooms on August 25, 2023.
The 917 is offered in a battery-electric version (four motors, 142.7 kWh battery, combined 1,069 hp total system output, 505 km NEDC range) and an extended-range version. Pricing starts at 637,700 yuan (~87,500 USD) for the EREV and 697,700 yuan (~95,700 USD) for the BEV — placing it firmly in ultra-luxury off-road territory alongside the Mercedes-AMG G63 and Land Rover Defender V8.
The M-Hero 917 carries heritage from Dongfeng's Mengshi (Warrior) military vehicle lineage, and a limited Dragon Armor Edition with pre-sales at 768,000–868,000 yuan launched in 2024.
