History

The EQ240 was the first vehicle Dongfeng (then the Second Automobile Works) produced at any scale, entering production in 1975 at the company's purpose-built Shiyan complex in Hubei Province.

A rugged 2.5-ton all-wheel-drive truck with an inline-six EQ6100 engine, the EQ240 was designed primarily for military logistics. It marked the SAW's transition from a construction project to an operational automaker and established the factory infrastructure that would support civilian truck production a few years later.
