DINA F-Series (F11 / F12 / F14) History

As part of its ambitious late-1990s expansion, DINA launched an intercity coach family built on its new HTQ chassis and fitted with Marcopolo S.A. bodies sourced through a commercial agreement signed in 1992. The F11 debuted in 1997, followed by the F12 in 1998 and the F14 in 1999.

The F-series represented DINA's attempt to compete at the premium end of the Mexican intercity market while simultaneously pursuing North American coach contracts. The effort was cut short when the Freightliner/Sterling acquisition of Western Star in late 1999 led to the cancellation of a 9,000-unit HTQ truck contract, triggering a financial crisis that forced DINA to close its Ciudad Sahagún truck plant in October 2001.
