DINA Avante / Dorado History

After nearly three decades of the Olímpico, DINA introduced the D-350 G-7 in 1987 — a new-generation intercity coach derived in part from the American Eagle 15 body design. The model was subsequently marketed as the Dina Avante, with a companion 40-foot variant called the Dorado.

Both the Avante and Dorado were powered by GM 6V92 TA diesel engines and targeted the growing domestic market for long-distance passenger transport. Variants including the 'Avante Plus' extended the model line through the early privatization period after Consorcio Grupo G acquired DINA in 1989.

The Avante-family coaches remained in service with major Mexican carriers through the 1990s, but were eventually superseded when DINA shifted its bus strategy toward the Marcopolo-bodied F-series and the HTQ platform.
