History
Launched in August 1995, the Move took the established Mira chassis and fitted it with a significantly taller body — providing far more interior head room within kei car dimensions — to compete with the similarly conceived Suzuki Wagon R. The design was created by Italian firm I.DE.A Institute.
Six generations were produced over 28 years; the Move became one of Daihatsu's best-selling domestic models and was also offered through Subaru as the Stella via an OEM agreement. It was also sold in Malaysia as the Perodua Kenari from 2000 to 2009.
Production was discontinued in June 2023 amid Daihatsu's safety-testing scandal. The Move name was revived in 2025 on an entirely new seventh-generation microvan with sliding doors, unrelated to the original tall-hatchback format.
