Daihatsu Feroza / Rocky (F70/F300) History

The original Rocky/Feroza is a compact ladder-frame SUV introduced in 1984 (F70 Rugger, Japan) and expanded into export markets from 1989 as the F300 Feroza — known as the Sportrak in the UK, Feroza in most other markets, and Rocky in the United States and Australia.

Its combination of a short wheelbase, solid axle rear suspension, and a 1.6-litre petrol engine made it a capable and affordable off-roader. Available with a removable hardtop or softtop, the three-door body kept weight low. Production of the F300 series ran through 2002, when the Terios had already taken over as Daihatsu's compact SUV.
