History

The DS 3 was officially launched in January 2010 as the entry-level model in Citroën's new DS premium sub-brand, positioned below the DS 4 and DS 5. A compact three-door hatchback with distinctive personalisation options — two-tone roofs, contrasting mirror caps, pattern interior options — it was one of the first European small cars to make personal expression a core sales proposition. A cabriolet version (DS 3 Cabrio) with a folding fabric panel followed in 2013.

The DS 3 was sold as a Citroën-badged car during its first production run (2010–2016) before DS Automobiles was spun off as a standalone marque in 2015–2016; the nameplate subsequently continued under the DS brand. This entry covers only the Citroën-badged production run.
