Citroën C3 History
History
The C3 was launched at the 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show and went on sale in January 2002 as a five-door hatchback, replacing the Saxo (and more broadly the AX heritage) in the Citroën lineup. Its rounded, friendly body marked a clear design statement for the brand and it sold strongly across Europe, with a facelifted version arriving in 2005.
A second generation followed in 2009 with a more conventional three-box form, and the third generation (2016) brought sharper styling and Citroën's 'Advanced Comfort' philosophy with very soft suspension. The fourth generation, revealed in October 2023 and entering production in 2024, was conceived for broader global markets including India and is available as a battery-electric ë-C3.
