Checker Superba History

For 1960 Checker introduced the A10 Superba, the first vehicle the taxi maker marketed to ordinary buyers rather than to cab fleets. It was essentially a civilian, slightly better-appointed version of the new A9-series taxi, offered as a four-door sedan and a station wagon, initially powered by a Continental six-cylinder engine.

The Superba established the basic body that would define Checker for the next two decades, but its own run was brief: Checker quickly added the upscale Marathon for 1961, and the Superba name was dropped after 1963 as the Marathon took over the civilian line entirely.
