BYD Seal History
History
Announced in China in May 2022 and delivering from August 2022, the BYD Seal is the Ocean Series premium electric sedan and the second Ocean-branded model after the Dolphin. It is built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 with an 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling DC fast charging at up to 150 kW. The platform integrates the battery as a structural floor element, improving rigidity and lowering the centre of gravity.
The Seal is offered with a 61.4 kWh or 82.5 kWh LFP Blade battery and rear- or all-wheel-drive configurations; the AWD Performance variant claims a 0–100 km/h time of 3.8 seconds. It was exported to Australia, Europe, and other markets and is positioned as a direct rival to the Tesla Model 3.
