Avatr Avatr 12 History

Revealed at the Chengdu Auto Show in August 2023 and launched for sale in China on November 10, 2023, the Avatr 12 is the brand's second model and its entry into the executive-sedan segment. At 5,020 mm long with a 3,020 mm wheelbase it sits well above the Avatr 11 in size and intent, targeting the Zeekr 001 and the premium imported saloon market.

The 12 was designed by Nader Faghihzadeh, a former BMW designer, giving it a slender fastback silhouette distinct from the SUV's heavier proportions. Three powertrain options span pure-electric rear-wheel drive (up to 318 hp), pure-electric all-wheel drive (up to 539 hp), and a range-extended hybrid using a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric range of 650–755 km and a combined range exceeding 1,270 km. CATL supplies both NMC packs (94–98 kWh) for pure-electric variants and the smaller LFP cells for the EREV.

A limited 'Avatr 012' edition was co-designed with fashion director Kim Jones and paired with bespoke Dior accessories, reinforcing the marque's luxury positioning. In February 2025 the Avatr 12 began exports to Qatar.
