Alvis Speed 25 History

The Speed 25 grew out of a 3.5-litre 102 bhp engine, fed by triple SU carburettors, that Alvis first offered as the '3½-litre' in 1935. Given a strengthened seven-main-bearing crankshaft a year later, it was renamed the Speed 25 and took over from the Speed 20 as the marque's fast tourer.

Bodied by the leading coachbuilders, the Speed 25 was among the quickest British cars of its day. About 391 were built before car production was suspended for the Second World War.
