Alvis 12/50 History

The 12/50 arrived in 1923, developing the side-valve 10/30's engine into a 1.5-litre overhead-valve four. It quickly earned a reputation for performance and reliability and became the car that established Alvis as a serious sporting marque.

It was a genuine competition success: an Alvis 12/50 won the 1923 200-Mile Race at Brooklands, and the model is widely regarded as one of the most successful vintage sports cars of all time. Around 3,616 were built, and roughly 700 are thought to survive — an unusually high proportion for a vintage car.
