History
Introduced in the early 1930s (sources date its launch to 1932–1933), the Type 20 (Aero 1000) grew the formula to a 998–999 cc twin-cylinder two-stroke engine producing 24–26 bhp and reaching around 85–100 km/h. Czech enthusiasts nicknamed it the 'Hecht der Landstraße' — pike of the highway — for its elongated, streamlined form.
The Aero 1000 sat between the 662 and the later front-wheel-drive Type 30 in the lineup, bridging the company's shift toward more sophisticated chassis engineering. Around 2,546 units were produced (sources vary; some tallies run higher) between 1933 and 1934, after which the design was superseded by the landmark Type 30.
