Aero Type 18 (Aero 662) History

Announced in 1931, the Type 18 (designated the 662 in Aero's internal numbering) stepped up to a 660 cc vertical twin-cylinder two-stroke engine developing 18 bhp (13 kW), good for 90 km/h (56 mph). Crucially it introduced four-wheel brakes — a meaningful safety advance over the Type 10.

The model offered the same general body architecture as its predecessor but with the extra refinement the twin-cylinder engine allowed. Production ran from 1931 to 1934, with approximately 2,615 units built — a solid sales step that validated the marque's growth trajectory. The larger Aero 1000 (Type 20) arrived in 1933 and was sold alongside the 662 through the end of both models' runs in 1934.
