Unic U6 History

Introduced alongside the U4 for 1934, the U6 shared the same independent front suspension and double-reduction rear axle but used a 3-litre six-cylinder overhead-valve pushrod engine with an aluminium cylinder head. A sports version was available.

By 1937 the U6C variant offered the Cotal electromagnetic preselector gearbox — a fashionable French innovation of the period — and developed 85 hp from its 3000 cc engine. Unic marketed the U6 on its superior quality and engineering, but the boutique pricing and economic climate limited sales. The U6 ended with all Unic passenger cars in July 1938.
