Sisu Nasu History

The Nasu (an acronym for Nauha-Sisu, 'Track Sisu'; also colloquial Finnish for 'Piglet') is Sisu's articulated tracked all-terrain transport, developed for the Finnish Army to traverse the bogs, forests, and frozen lakes that wheeled vehicles cannot negotiate. A prototype was tested in 1985 and 11 pre-production units were ordered the following year.

The vehicle consists of two articulated tracked units, all four tracks powered, capable of carrying up to 17 personnel. The trailer unit can be configured for different payloads including casualty evacuation and supply roles. The Nasu complements Sisu's wheeled military family, providing genuine all-terrain access in conditions that defeat conventional trucks.
