Sisu E13TP History
History
Developed by Sisu's military division and introduced in 2005, with first deliveries to the Finnish and Lithuanian armies from 2007, the E13TP is an 8×8 (and 10×10) heavy terrain truck designed for NATO interoperability. The Caterpillar C13 turbo-diesel produces 332 kW (445 hp), driving all axles for off-road performance across Finland's challenging terrain.
The platform supports a wide family of military roles: hook loaders, mobile radar carriers, missile platforms, recovery vehicles, and bridge-laying equipment. Optional mine and ballistic protection packages meet STANAG 4569 standards. Finland operates 72 E13TP and 9 E15TP units; Lithuania received 50 vehicles; Estonia uses the platform for air-defence radar carriers.
Finnish E13TPs have been deployed on NATO ISAF operations in Afghanistan and UNIFIL peacekeeping missions in Lebanon, demonstrating the vehicle's operational reach beyond its Nordic home territory.
