History

Saleen's first truck appeared in 1988 as a modified Ford Ranger Sportruck, offered in extremely limited numbers — only 24 street versions and four race-ready examples were built that debut year. The Ranger-based program focused on aerodynamic bodywork and suspension tuning rather than large power gains, and produced only a handful of cars through the early 1990s.

The Sportruck name was revived in earnest around 2006 on the full-size Ford F-150 platform with the S331 designation, applying Saleen's supercharged engine work, lowered sport suspension, wheels, and aerodynamic body treatment to a full-size pickup. Naturally aspirated and supercharged variants were offered.

The F-150-based Sportruck continues in production today alongside the Sportruck XR (an off-road-biased extended version) and the BIG OLY Bronco build, forming the truck and SUV side of the current Saleen lineup.
