Saleen S302 History

When Ford introduced the 5.0-liter 'Coyote' V8 for the 2011 model-year Mustang, Saleen renamed its Mustang line the S302 to reflect the new displacement (5.0 liters ≈ 302 cubic inches), succeeding the S281. The S302 is offered in escalating tiers: White Label (naturally aspirated), Yellow Label (supercharged), and Black Label (high-output supercharged).

When Ford launched the all-new sixth-generation S550 Mustang for 2015, Saleen debuted the updated S302 Black Label. The Black Label specification used a supercharged 5.0L producing 740 hp alongside Saleen-designed carbon fiber elements, an independent rear suspension tune, and a full aerodynamic package. First 2015 White Label deliveries shipped from Saleen's Southern California facility in February 2015.

The 2017 SA-30 limited edition marked 30 years since Saleen's 1-2-3 finish at the 24 Hours of Mosport in 1987, offering race-inspired liveries and up to approximately 760 hp in track-oriented form. The S302 series has continued through subsequent Mustang platform updates and remains in production.
