SAIPA Shahin History

The Shahin (Persian for 'peregrine falcon') was developed on SAIPA's new SP1 platform — described by the company as 'the first Iranian platform designed and constructed entirely in Iran,' though the architecture traces roots to the Toyota B platform used in the Yaris XP90 generation, significantly updated for contemporary standards. The car was first shown in 2018 under the name Roham before being renamed Shahin; mass production commenced in December 2020.

At launch the Shahin represented a clear step up from SAIPA's X200-platform models: its 1.5-litre turbocharged M15TC engine produces 110 hp and 178 N·m, paired with either a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic. At 4,460 mm long on a 2,650 mm wheelbase it sits in the C-segment, giving Iranian buyers genuine compact-car dimensions at a domestic price point. Standard equipment includes ABS with brake assist, two airbags, a 7-inch multimedia display, and a rear camera.
