SAIPA Jyane (Citroën Dyane) History

When SAIPA was established in 1965 as SAIPAC (Société Anonyme Iranienne de Production des Automobiles Citroën), its mission was to assemble French Citroën vehicles for the Iranian domestic market. The company's first major model was the Citroën Dyane, re-badged and marketed locally as the Jyane, which entered production in 1968.

SAIPA produced approximately 120,000 units of the Jyane before output wound down around 1980. Alongside the standard five-door hatchback, SAIPA also built a glazed panel-van variant and the Baby-Brousse — a metal-bodied utility vehicle analogous to the Citroën Méhari. When Citroën withdrew from the partnership in 1975, the company dropped its original name and became simply SAIPA; production of existing Citroën-derived models continued for a short period under the new identity.
