Puma Puma AM-series (AMV / AM4) History

After Puma's São Paulo factory closed in 1985, production rights passed to licensees Araucária Veículos and Alfa Metais. Under these arrangements a new AM-series was developed — variously called the AMV and AM4 — carrying on the lightweight fiberglass roadster tradition in small numbers.

The AM4 Spyder was the last car sold under the Puma name, in 1995. Total AM-series production was very limited — Puma registries put the whole Alfa Metais AM run (AM1–AM4 / AMV) at roughly 200 vehicles across 1987–1993. The original Puma company was later revived as Puma Automóveis Ltda in 2013, but no significant new production followed. The AM-series closes a 31-year run of Brazilian fiberglass sports cars.
