Protos Type C1 History

The Type C1 was a direct evolution of the Type C, retaining the same 2,596 cc four-cylinder block but tuned to 45 hp — a 50 percent power increase over its predecessor, improving both performance and drivability.

AEG acquired Protos in 1926 and merged the marque with its subsidiary NAG (Nationale Automobil-Gesellschaft), forming NAG-Protos AG. Cars were briefly built under the combined name before production ceased entirely; the resulting holding company was dissolved in 1927, ending over two decades of Protos automobiles.
