Protos 26/50 PS History

Running alongside the four-cylinder E1, the 26/50 PS was Protos's prestige flagship — a six-cylinder, 6.8-litre car producing around 50 hp. Its scale and refinement placed it among the most expensive and prestigious German automobiles of the pre-war decade.

Kaiser Wilhelm II's preference for Protos cars centred on the six-cylinder models; the imperial association was a marketing asset the company actively promoted through the period of Siemens ownership.

Like the E1, production ceased with the outbreak of the First World War. The six-cylinder line was not revived postwar; Protos concentrated resources on a single rationalized model instead.
