History

The Sunfire replaced the Sunbird for 1995 as Pontiac's entry-level compact on GM's long-running front-drive J-body, sold as a coupe, sedan, and (early on) convertible with Pontiac's signature aggressive cladding.

Marketed at young, budget-minded buyers and sharing much with the Chevrolet Cavalier, it ran through 2005 before being replaced by the G5.
