History

The Grand Am first appeared for 1973 as a sporty, European-flavored intermediate, ran in two short early stints, then returned for 1985 as a front-wheel-drive compact that became one of Pontiac's volume cars.

Through the 1990s and early 2000s the Grand Am was a sales mainstay, marketed on aggressive styling, body cladding, and the sportier GT trim. It was discontinued after 2005 as Pontiac shifted to the 'G'-series naming, replaced by the G6.
