Pontiac GTO (2004–2006) History

Pontiac revived the GTO name for 2004 after a 30-year absence, importing a rebadged Holden Monaro — an Australian-built coupe on GM's Commodore platform — to the United States as a modern rear-drive muscle car.

It launched with the 350-hp LS1 V8 for 2004, upgraded to the 400-hp 6.0-liter LS2 for 2005–2006. Performance was strong (0–60 mph in under five seconds), but conservative styling and a $34,000-plus price held back sales; 40,808 were built across three years before it was discontinued after 2006.
