Plymouth Voyager History

Launched for 1984 alongside the Dodge Caravan, the Voyager (on Chrysler's front-drive S platform) was one of the vehicles that created the modern minivan — low-floor, garageable, and car-like to drive, unlike the truck-based vans before it. It was an instant success and a defining Chrysler product. (Plymouth had earlier used 'Voyager' on a full-size van from 1974 to 1983.)

The long-wheelbase Grand Voyager arrived for 1987, adding rear seat and cargo space. Across three generations (1984–1990, 1991–1995, 1996–2000) the Voyager remained a sales pillar.

When Plymouth was discontinued, the Voyager nameplate moved to Chrysler for 2001–2003, ending the Plymouth-badged run with the brand after the 2000 model year.
