Plymouth Satellite History

The Satellite began for 1965 as the top, sportiest trim of the Belvedere line, available as a hardtop coupe and convertible. As Plymouth's intermediate matured, the Satellite grew into a full series spanning the GTX and Road Runner performance variants.

When the Belvedere name was dropped after 1970, Satellite became the standalone name for Plymouth's mid-size B-body. The 'fuselage'-era Satellites (and their Road Runner derivatives) were also Plymouth's NASCAR cars of the period. The line ran through 1974 before being replaced by the Fury (mid-size) for 1975.
