Piccard-Pictet 2.9-litre Sleeve-Valve Four History

Alongside the prestigious V8, Piccard-Pictet offered a smaller post-war tourer using a 2.9-litre inline-four sleeve-valve engine. Both post-war models retained the sophisticated single-sleeve-valve design that had distinguished the marque since 1912.

Like the V8, the four-cylinder car was caught by the economic collapse that followed World War I. With the company bankrupt by 1920, Gnome et Rhône built out the remaining cars until the last Pic-Pic appeared at the 1924 Geneva Motor Show — the quiet end of the only car to have been continuously manufactured in the city of Geneva.
