History
Launched in February 1993 as the replacement for both the 205 and the 309, the Peugeot 306 was widely praised by the motoring press for its sharp handling and well-resolved ride comfort — qualities that placed it near the top of the compact class throughout the 1990s.
The 306 GTI-6 — powered by a 167-hp 2.0-litre DOHC 16-valve engine — was considered by many reviewers to be the true heir to the 205 GTI's handling crown. The cabriolet variant was styled and built by Pininfarina. Production ran until 2002, with nearly 3 million units built.
