OSCA 1600S History

In summer 1962 OSCA enlarged the Fiat sports-car engine by 2 mm of bore, bringing displacement to 1,568 cc and output to 100 PS SAE (90 PS DIN). Fiat redesignated the car the 1600S (tipo 118SB); Pininfarina continued to supply the same elegant coupe and convertible bodies. The 1600S remained in production until 1966, and combined with the earlier 1500S brought total OSCA-engined Fiat production to 3,089 units — by far the largest volume OSCA achieved.

These OSCA-Fiat models were significant commercially: they gave OSCA a production-car income stream while the brothers continued small-batch racing projects. By the time production ended, OSCA had already passed into Count Agusta's ownership and was winding down independent development.
