History

The Zafira A entered production in January 1999 as Opel's compact MPV answer to the booming people-carrier market. Built on the Astra G platform, it introduced the clever Flex7 seating system, which allowed the rear seats to fold completely flat into the floor — freeing full cargo space without removing any seats. This feature made it a class benchmark.

The Zafira B (2005) and Zafira Tourer C (2011) refined the formula over two further generations. The Tourer, with its dramatic fastback styling, remained in production until 2019, after which Opel replaced it with the LCV-derived Zafira Life (a van-based MPV), marking the end of the car-platform Zafira.
