Opel Omega History
History
Introduced in 1986 as a direct replacement for the Rekord, the Opel Omega was the brand's executive car — larger, more refined, and available with a wide engine range including V6 units. The Omega A ran from 1986 to 1993 and was also sold in North America as the Cadillac Catera in later years' derived form.
The Omega B (1993–2003) was even more refined, and in its LS/MV6 and Lotus Omega (Lotus Carlton) forms it earned a genuine performance reputation. Production ended in 2003, with no direct successor — Opel left the large executive segment in Europe.
